Metals and Mining Industry Resources

Participation in industry organizations that support the metals and mining industry helps us meet the needs of our various stakeholders. The following organizations provide industry information and resources that may be valuable to those interested in sustainable mining or the metals and mining industry.

The Advanced Lead-Acid Battery Consortium (ALABC)
ALABC is dedicated to enhancing lead-acid and lead-carbon batteries to ensure their marketability in energy storage applications. Doe Run is a founding and current member of ALABC.

America’s Battery Recyclers (ABR)
ABR consists of companies, including Doe Run, involved in lead-acid battery recycling, as well as auto and industrial battery recyclers, primary lead producers, consumers of recycled lead, and suppliers and industry consultants.

Battery Council International (BCI)
BCI unites representatives from businesses involved in the lead-acid battery lifecycle, including manufacturers and recyclers, marketers and retailers, suppliers of raw materials and equipment, and industry consultants. Doe Run is a member of this organization and often demonstrates industry leadership as a speaker at these events.

China Metals Information Network (Antaike)
Since being established in 1992, this site has built a reputation for its authoritative, strategic and in-depth analysis of the Chinese metals industries and markets. It also provides news, trade and production data, prices and forecasts. Working under the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association (CNIA) and directly overseen by the Information Center of China National Nonferrous Metals Industry, the site has become a key center for information collection and delivery within the country and across the world.

The International Lead Association (ILA)
ILA is dedicated to serving lead producers and other companies that have a direct interest in lead and its use. Doe Run is one of nearly 40 member companies who are involved in the mining, smelting, refining and recycling of lead.

The International Lead Zinc Research Organization (ILZRO)
ILZRO manages research programs, including those regarding the environment, health, sustainable development and products, on behalf of the International Lead Association (ILA) and the International Zinc Association (IZA). Doe Run is a member of this organization.

The International Lead and Zinc Study Group (ILZSG)
ILZSG was formed by the United Nations to provide information on the supply, demand and international trade of lead and zinc. Doe Run executives frequently attend and present as industry representatives of the United States Trade Commission, on industry trends at ILZSG’s annual conference.

International Precious Metals Institute (IPMI)
IPMI is the largest and most well-known association focused on precious metals in the world. The organization provides a forum for the exchange of information and technology and promotes efficient and environmentally sound use, reuse and recycling of precious metals from primary and secondary sources.

International Zinc Association (IZA)
IZA is the only global industry association dedicated exclusively to the interests of zinc and its users, helping to sustain the long-term global demand for zinc. Members represent companies that mine, refine, recycle or manufacture zinc products, including Doe Run.

Mineral Education Coalition (MEC)
MEC provides information and materials to teachers and students to increase the understanding that mineral and energy resources are essential to society and are produced in an environmentally and socially responsible manner.

Mining Industry Council of Missouri
The Mining Industry Council of Missouri includes companies actively engaged in mineral mining and production in Missouri, individuals and companies holding mineral rights in Missouri, and individuals or companies with peripheral interests in the mining industry in Missouri. The council is dedicated to keeping the industry informed on pending legislation and issues of interest in state administrative agencies. Doe Run is a member of this organization.

Missouri Minerals Education Foundation (MMEF)
MMEF hosts free, annual workshops to provide resources for primary and middle school teachers about the mining and use of Missouri minerals. As a member of this organization, Doe Run and its employees assist MMEF with teacher workshops.

National Mining Association (NMA)
NMA is the only national trade organization that represents the interests of the mining industry before Congress, the Administration, federal agencies, the judiciary and the media. NMA has repeatedly recognized Doe Run for outstanding achievements in mine safety, awarding the company the prestigious Sentinels of Safety award 25 times since 1971.
