VICE PRESIDENT OF STRATEGIC PLANNING

ADDED TO DOE RUN TEAM

ST. LOUIS (March 12, 2009) – Michael Sankovitch has been named vice president of strategic planning for The Doe Run Company. He began his new position with Doe Run March 2.

Sankovitch has returned to Doe Run from a five-year stint with Doe Run Peru as its technical and project vice president of strategic planning. In his new position, Sankovitch joins the corporate staff in St. Louis and reports to Chief Financial Officer Terry Fox.

“We are excited that we have Mike,” said Fox.  “He will not only lend his keen insight to our strategic planning goals, but he’ll also offer the perspective gained from his rich history with our company.”

Sankovitch’s career in mining and minerals spans three decades. Prior to the formation of The Doe Run Company, he worked for company predecessors, the Fluor Corporation and St. Joseph Minerals. With an engineering degree in metallurgy and a graduate degree in business administration, he has served in a wide range of roles within Doe Run including operations, research and development, project management, accounting and community relations.

“The commitment that Doe Run makes to continuous improvement, expressed in our corporate vision of ‘making tomorrow better than today,’ is what has kept me at Doe Run,” said Sankovitch. “My main focus will be assisting the divisions and departments in understanding corporate strategy and delivering strong results.”

Sankovitch now resides in St. Louis with his wife Mary.
