Environmental Stewardship
Metal mining and processing provide the essential metals and minerals that make much of modern life possible. At Doe Run we are committed to maintaining safe air, land and water for our communities as we strive to meet or surpass regulatory standards regarding the environment. Doe Run has spent approximately $16 million annually on environmental management and improvement projects at its facilities during the past few years.We are actively engaged in environmental stewardship at all of our locations and facilities. Examples of our accomplishments include:
Air

The Glover, Mo., lead smelter has been in compliance with federal ambient air standards since 1997 and attained ISO 14001 certification in 2000.

The Herculaneum, Mo., lead smelter been just above or just below federal ambient air standards since 2002.
Land

Doe Run’s Buick Resource Recycling Division, one of the world’s largest lead recycling facilities, recycles more than 13.5 million lead-acid batteries per year and more than 350,000 tons of material overall.
Water
TRI Data
The TRI, or Toxic Release Inventory, is a report that a company is required to file annually with federal and state governments on its disposal or release of specific materials listed as “toxic chemicals.” This also covers waste management activities, including recycling.
