Communities

Doe Run is committed to serving the communities in which we work and live. Through educational initiatives, financial support and volunteer efforts, Doe Run strives to fulfill the company motto, “Making it Better Tomorrow Than Today.”

Local Programs

Each of Doe Run’s divisions is committed to reaching out to the communities in which we operate. Doe Run employees volunteer with organizations such as Adopt-a-Highway, StreamTeam, the National Arbor Day Foundation and Boy Scouts of America, among others. In addition, Doe Run provides financial support to local schools and area youth through various scholarship programs and intern programs, and many of the divisions host open houses, canned food drives, coat collections and blood drives throughout the year.

Doe Run also supports the annual Old Miner’s Day in Viburnum, Mo., which celebrates the history of mining in Southeast Missouri. Through on-stage and behind-the-scenes support, Doe Run ensures the success of this yearly event.

Minerals Education

Each of Doe Run’s facilities participates in minerals education initiatives designed to teach children of all ages about the natural rock and ore found in Missouri, how and what minerals are mined, and the value and uses of Missouri’s minerals.

The Doe Run Minerals Education Team visits conferences and schools across the state of Missouri, facilitating educational presentations such as Chocolate Chip Cookie Mining, Paste with Taste and Rockin’ to the Rhythm of Minerals.

A trio of Doe Run employees, deemed the Doe-Re-Mis, assist the Doe Run Minerals Education Team, using music to educate kids on rocks, minerals, energy and the environment.

The Doe Re Mis and the rest of Doe Run’s Minerals Education Team have reached hundreds of teachers and students with their messages about minerals, and the programs popularity continues to grow.

For more information on minerals education, visit the National Energy Foundation, the Minerals Information Institute, the American Geological Institute, or e-mail mineralseducation@doerun.com.

Tours

Doe Run regularly opens its doors to legislators, civic leaders, foreign visitors, the media and our fellow community members. Tour-goers receive a guided mine or in-plant tour, gaining a first-hand look at Doe Run’s equipment and operations.

If you are interested in visiting Doe Run’s facilities, please email contact@doerun.com for scheduling information and tour details.
